Lisa Kamen Harvesting Happiness 4 Heroes

By Lisa Cypers Kamen, Harvesting Happiness 4 Heroes

It’s hard to love unconditionally. I admit it. I can do it for my kids. I can do it for my family, but with my friends, coworkers, and battle buddies it can be a challenge.  One thing I learned about loving unconditionally is that relationships are more about what we think about that person than sometimes the relationship itself.

I think back to a time when I was really upset with my friend.  I thought that she had dropped the ball and she had.  I was frustrated, upset and emotional because we were friends. I thought for sure that she was prioritizing other people above me. I felt awful.

Then I spoke to her and she told me what happened.  She had made a mistake for sure, but she hadn’t put me last on the list as I had thought.  The situation hadn’t changed, but how I looked at it had.  This turned on a light in my head that how we interpret a situation has a lot to do with our happiness and unhappiness – not just the situation itself.  Choosing to see the bright side, choosing to give the benefit of the doubt, choosing to think that maybe someone isn’t about you can make a lot of difference in your overall daily happiness.
